Preconditions That Should Be Discussed Before Starting Treatment

Preclusion Description
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Vabysmo may pose a risk to an unborn baby. Females of reproductive potential are advised to use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 3 months after the last dose. It is unknown if Vabysmo passes into breast milk.
Risk of Thromboembolic Events There is a potential risk of blood clot-related issues (such as heart attacks or strokes) with the use of VEGF inhibitors like Vabysmo, though the rate in clinical trials was low.
History of certain conditions Patients with a history of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes may have a higher risk of certain side effects (e.g., retinal vascular occlusion).
